I picked up the following very sad news from the RFA website earlier this afternoon.
Message reads as follows....
It is with huge sadness that I have to announce that Roy Burrows passed away early this morning. Roy had been in Aintree Hospital (Liverpool) since the 4th of August and sadly died overnight. I went up to see him on the 19th of July for his 76th birthday and took him up a litre of Captain Morgan Private Stock, his favourite rum from his many deployments to the Caribbean on the Wave Ruler. Roy came to the RFA from Harrisons after the Falklands, and was a fantastic electrical officer and a wonderful shipmate. He will be sadly missed. His brother Paul, also an ex SE Officer passed last year, and he leaves his wife Marie and two children, Roy and Jeanette. I will forward details of his funeral arrangements when known. A truly sad day.
